On 29 November 2010, Ambassador of Ukraine to Libya Mr Mykola Nahornyi met with Mr Abu Baker Al-Naffar, Chairman of the Libyan Home in Ukraine Foundation.

Ukrainian-Libyan cooperation in the cultural, humanitarian and education sectors was discussed during the meeting. The necessity of intensification and strengthening of such cooperation was underscored.

In this context Ambassador Nahornyi informed Mr Abu Baker Al-Naffar of the results of the visit to Libya on 22-24 November 2010 of Prime Minister of Ukraine H.E. Mykola Azarov, 5th Session of the Ukraine-Libya Bilateral Intergovernmental Cooperation Commission and negotiations between Minister for Education and Science of Ukraine Mr Dmytro Tabachnyk and Secretary of General People’s Committee (Minister) for Education and Scientific Research of Libya Mr Abdelkabir Al-Fakhiri.

On his part Mr Abu Baker Al-Naffar proposed that a Day of Ukrainian-Libyan Friendship be held in Tripoli early in 2011 involving a wide range of participants, including artistic circles, diplomatic corps accredited to Tripoli, Ukrainian nationals working in Libya, Ukrainian and Libyan mass media.

The Chairman of the Libyan Home in Ukraine reviewed the photo exhibition dedicated to the Holodomor Victims Remembrance Day that has been on display at the Embassy of Ukraine in Libya since 27 November 2010.
